FAQ's

  • At Pratap Public School, we follow an Adult–Child Ratio of 1:15 to ensure that every child receives adequate attention, care and support.

Each classroom has one teacher and one nanny, working together to create a safe, nurturing and engaging learning environment.

Our class strength is maintained as follows:

    Nursery : 20–25 children
    LKG : 25–30 children
    UKG : 30–35 children

This arrangement allows the teacher to focus on learning and development, while the nanny provides additional care and assistance, ensuring that children feel comfortable, secure and well-supported throughout the school day.

  • For the safety, security, and uninterrupted learning of our little ones, visitors do not have free or unsupervised access to the classrooms. All visitors are required to follow the school’s visitor protocol and are permitted inside the classroom only with prior approval or when accompanied by an authorised staff member. Our priority is to create a safe, secure, warm, and child-friendly environment where every child feels confident and settled.

  • Yes

  • At PPS, we believe that learning goes far beyond textbooks and worksheets. We follow an experiential and activity-based approach, where children learn by exploring, observing, doing and experiencing.

Whenever a new concept is introduced in the classroom, it is supported by a hands-on activity, game, story, experiment, role play, art or real-life experience to help children understand and retain it better.

    For example:

Before & After : Children learn the concept through sequencing activities, objects, number cards and interactive games.
Recognition of Letters & Numbers : Concepts are reinforced through phonics activities, sand tracing, puzzles, matching games, movement activities and creative experiences.
EVS Concepts : Topics such as fruits, vegetables, animals, seasons, transport and community helpers are explored through real objects, sorting, observation, role play, discussions, art and sensory activities.

Alongside academics, we provide opportunities for creative expression, physical development, communication and language, social-emotional development, problem-solving, collaboration and independent thinking.

Our aim is to make every learning experience joyful, meaningful and connected to the child's real world, so that children do not merely learn what something is, but also understand how and why it works.

  • We do not have a conventional homework policy up to Grade 2. Instead, we focus on meaningful home practice. Whatever concepts are introduced in the classroom are briefly revised at home through simple, age-appropriate activities and practice.

This helps children reinforce their learning, strengthen recall and make meaningful connections with what they have learnt in school. When the same concept is recapitulated in the classroom the following day or later, children are able to relate it to their previous learning and participate with greater confidence and understanding.

  • The Class Teacher’s contact number, along with the appropriate communication timings, will be shared in the class group. Parents may connect with the teacher during these designated hours for any queries or concerns related to their child.

Additionally, since Saturdays are non-working days for the Pre-Primary students, parents may visit the school and meet the Class Teacher personally, with the exception of the 4th Saturday, which is a non -working day for the staff.

  • Yes, absolutely. At regular intervals of around 20–25 minutes, the nanny gently reminds and asks the children if they would like to use the washroom. This helps them become aware of their needs and gradually develop the habit of using the washroom independently.

We also guide parents to avoid sending children to school in diapers, wherever possible, so that school and home can work together in helping the child establish a regular washroom routine.

  • Yes. In preschool, our focus is on developing the child’s basic motor skills, physical coordination, balance, strength, and confidence through fun and age-appropriate activities rather than formal sports training.

At this age, children learn best through play and movement. They are encouraged to participate in activities such as running, jumping, balancing, throwing, catching, and simple coordination games. These joyful experiences help children become physically active, develop body control, improve coordination, and build confidence in a natural and enjoyable way.

Our aim is to build a strong foundation for sports and physical activities in the years ahead, while ensuring that every child participates happily and without any pressure.

  • CBSE /ICSE and Cambridge/IB curricula are having their own benefits and characteristics. But in the preschool our focus solely remains on the 5 major pillars of development that are not listed under any particular boards.

At the preschool stage, the board does not make a significant difference. What matters most is the child’s overall development. All the boards are good in their own ways, but in early years, the real focus should be on building confidence, communication, social skills, creativity, and a love for learning. A happy, nurturing, and activity-based environment is what truly helps a child grow and prepares them well for any board in the future.

  • Absolutely. The safety and security of every child is one of our highest priorities. During school hours, entry into the school premises is strictly monitored. Every parent or visitor is first screened by the security guard, who verifies the purpose of the visit and records the details in the visitor’s register. Only after this verification is the visitor permitted to proceed to the Front Desk Executive or the Junior Wing In-charge.

We also follow a strict Escort Card Protocol during dispersal. The person coming to pick up the child must present the authorised Escort Card, and the child is handed over only after the identity is duly verified. This ensures that children are released only to the authorised person.

  • We understand that every child develops language and communication skills at their own pace. During the initial days, our approach will be to provide the child with plenty of opportunities for listening, observing, and speaking in a comfortable and encouraging environment.

Children learn language through repetition, regular exposure, and interaction. Every day, during assembly, children will participate in prayer recitation, rhymes, and simple cognition-based questions. In the classroom too, there will be regular verbal practice through letters, numbers, vocabulary, reading, and interactive activities.

Group activities and peer interaction also play an important role. When children see their classmates speaking and participating, it naturally encourages them to express themselves and gradually builds their confidence to communicate.

Let us give the child some time to settle, interact, and gain confidence, and we can review the progress together and discuss the next steps if required
  • There is only one planned Smart Class session per week, and the screen is used strictly as a teaching aid, not as a source of entertainment.

The teacher first plans the concept or topic to be introduced and then carefully selects a short, age-appropriate video or visual resource that supports and reinforces that particular concept. The content is shown only when it adds meaningful value to the learning experience. This ensures that children benefit from technology while maintaining a healthy balance with hands-on, interactive and play-based learning.

  • Yes, absolutely. CCTV surveillance is installed across the school premises as an important part of our safety and security system. The key areas of the school are under continuous surveillance to help us ensure the safety and well- being of our children and to monitor the overall functioning of the school.

However, we do not routinely share CCTV footage or clippings with parents. This is because the footage also captures teachers, support staff, and other children, and sharing it may compromise their privacy. Moreover, our aim is to maintain a safe and supportive environment where teachers can interact naturally with children without feeling that every classroom interaction is being constantly monitored or scrutinised.

Please be assured that CCTV surveillance is actively used by the school authorities whenever required for security, safety concerns, or investigation of any specific incident. Our priority is to provide your child with a safe, secure, and comfortable learning environment while respecting the privacy of everyone within the school.
